Track provides ample opportunity for family fun

| September 14, 2007 12:00 AM

The Sunday, Sept. 9 Arenacross race was the second race held at the Mill Pond Track this year. There was also a race in June.

The Sunday race had a great rider turnout. There were 147 entries, of which, 135 were from out of town, which is a big boost for the local economy. This was the largest race the Mill Pond Moto Cross Association has ever had and they expect it to continue to grow.

Races began being held in Libby in 2001. The Mill Pond Association was established in 2003. There are currently over 250 members.

In 2005 the club purchased the property where the track is currently located. It is a total non-profit association and all the money raised goes back into making the property better.

This is the first year the Kiwanis will hold the Demo derby at the track. They built the Demo track in the middle of the moto cross race arena.

The Kiwanis Demolition Derby begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16 at the Mill Pond Moto Cross Track.
