On Aug. 31 in Troy, the Trojans racked up 246 rushing yards, including 104 by Zach McDougall, in rolling to a victory in their nonconference debut.

Troy junior quarterback Aaron Palmer ran for a 13-yard touchdown and tossed a 17-yard TD pass to Brian Helmrich. Kody Foote added two TD runs for the Trojans.

On Friday, Sept. 7 in Troy, Aaron Palmer threw for 109 yards.

"We got beat pretty soundly," said Troy coach Rich McElmurry.

Loyola passed for 211 yards and rushed for 233 yards. Troy passed for 109 yards and rushed for 90 yards. Each team had one turnover and one interception.

"Their speed was way too much," McElmurry said of the Loyola team. "They played for the state championship last year and lost, they're a very good outfit."

Many mistakes were made in Friday's game, McElmurry explained.

"We'll work on fixing those mistakes and continue to work on the things we do well," McElmurry added.
