Lady golfers complete league play for season

| September 5, 2007 12:00 AM

Cabinet View Ladies' Golf closed competitive league play on Wednesday, Aug. 29, with 20 golfers in attendance. As long as the balmy weather persists the ladies will continue golfing, but not as an organized league.

Leading Group A was Sharon Curtis with a Low Gross score of 51, while Donna Havens' 36 won Low net scoring. In Group B, it was Alice Miller with a Low Gross Score of 55 and Anna Guthrie with 39 for Low Net.

Event Of The Day #1 was a Crier's Tourney, where players could deduct their best and worst hole score from the 9-hole total number of strokes. Donna Havens won that game with a 39, while Alice Miller (42) topped Group B. Fewest Putts was the #2 Event Of The Day, won by Sandy Willis (16) and Patti Winn (17) in Groups A and B, respectively. Three chip-ins were recorded by Faye Schoknecht (Hole #3), Patti Winn (Hole #4) and Anna Guthrie (Hole #6).

The Ladies Golf League will meet for a luncheon at the Venture Inn at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 5. At that time, awards will be presented to those who succeeded in several skill categories, such as "Most Improved Golfer," etc. New officers for 2008 will be introduced. The golfers can look back on a very successful season and look forward to more of the same in 2008.
