Lois G. Smith

Lois G. Smith, 64, of Libby died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007 at St. John's Lutheran Hospital from natural causes.

Lois was born June 6, 1943 in Amarillo, Texas to Erlan and Jewell Mosteller Roye. She grew up and attended school in Texas and served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps from 1961 to 1964.

Lois married Walter Smith on June 20, 1964 in Odenton, Md. They moved to Noxon in 1965 and to Libby in 1969.

She stayed at home until the children started school and then she went to work at the Libby Care Center, where she worked for over 17 years. She also worked for Dr. Knecht for four years.

Lois enjoyed collecting dolls, crocheting, ceramics, and gardening.

She was a member of The United Daughters of the Confederacy. She enjoyed her family and especially her grandchildren. Christmas was her favorite time of the year.

Survivors include her husband, Walter Smith of Libby; children, Tracy Murphy and her husband Kevin of Polson, David Smith and his wife Roxanne, of Seattle, Wash., Kevin Smith and his wife Ronda of Spokane, Wash., Ellen Holzhauser and her husband Bob of Libby, Tyler Smith and his wife Jennifer of Boise, Idaho, Peyton Smith of Seattle; grandchildren, Stacia, Moriah, Logan, Kolby, Parker, Kaleb, Macey and Alyssa; three brothers: Early Roye of N.C., Tony Roye of Slayton, Texas, and Winsett Roye of Peru.

Services were on Monday, Oct. 22, 2007 at the Libby Christian Church. Local arrangements were by the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home in Libby.
