Lincoln County Sheriff requests publics' assistance

| October 17, 2007 12:00 AM

The Lincoln County Sheriffs Office and local law enforcement officials are requesting the publics' assistance in the apprehension of burglary suspects in the Libby area.

Within the last month, the suspect(s) have broken into at least eight homes and six commercial buildings. All of the residential burglaries appear to have occurred during daylight hours while the homeowners were away. Entry into most of the homes and businesses was made through unlocked or open windows.

Most points of entry were on the back or sides of the structures and could not be easily seen from the street or neighboring homes.

All of the residences and most of the businesses were ransacked during the thefts.

Deputies are requesting that residents pay careful attention to any suspicious activities or people in their neighborhoods and if possible record the description and license numbers of vehicles that do not belong in the area.

Residents are also reminded to be sure that their homes are properly secured before leaving; this would include all windows and doors as well as any garage doors.

If anyone has any information on these or any other crimes please call the Sheriffs Department at 293-4112. If observing suspicious activity or witnessing a crime in progress, please call 911 immediately.

Sheriffs Deputies and Detectives have collected evidence in all of these thefts and are actively pursuing all leads.
