Judith M. Hirtle

Judith M. Hirtle, 72, died Thursday, Oct. 11 in Libby.

She was born in Clinton, Mass., on Aug. 23, 1935 to Robert and Lillian Merrill.

Judith moved with her family to Santa Monica, Calif., where she was raised and educated. She remained in southern California most of her life where she was a longtime employee of McDonald-Douglas Aircraft Company.

Judith and her husband Charles came to Libby in 1997 where she had since resided. Charles preceded her in death in 1997.

She is survived by her three children: Lillian Smith of Elko, Nev., James Hakanson of Philadelphia, Pa., and Judy Lynn Hakanson of Libby; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the City of Libby Cemetery under the direction of Nelson & Vial Funeral Homes & Crematory.
