Mary E. Miller

Mary E. Miller died Tuesday, Oct. 9 at the Libby Care Center.

Mary, 87, had been a longtime employee of Lincoln County, serving in the county assessor's office both as clerk and deputy assessor for 28 years until her retirement.

Mary was born in Townsend to Charles and Mabel Williams on May 7, 1920 and was raised and educated in Townsend, graduating from high school in 1940. While in Townsend, she had worked as a telephone operator.

She married Lloyd Miller on Nov. 9, 1948 at Townsend. Following her marriage, she came to Libby with her husband where she has resided for the past 59 years.

She had been a member of the Libby Senior Citizens and St. Joseph's Parish.

A person of many talents, Mary enjoyed oil painting and doing handcrafts and gardening, as well as being a devoted mom and grandma.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd in 1978; and sisters Jean Lewis, Josephine Lewis and Mick Benson.

Survivors include: her son, Ray Miller and his wife Robin of Libby; a sister, Margaret Gloege of Helena; and granddaughters Breanna Miller of Boulder, Colo.; and Samantha Miller of Libby; and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Jozef Perhubka as celebrant. Rite of interment will follow at the City of Libby Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Nelson & Vial Chapel followed by a parish vigil and rosary service beginning at 7 p.m.
