The Varsity Lady Trojans volleyball team lost to the Mission Lady Bulldogs in Troy Tuesday night.

Although it was a close match, the Lady Trojans lost in 5 games: 25-15, 23-25, 15-25, 25-15, and 11-15.

Total aces - 28; Alicia Anderson led with 7.

Total kills - 34; Delsey Olds led with 9 along with Alicia Anderson.

Digs - 29; Delsey Olds led with 8.

Liz Straley made all 32 assists in the game, with 1 block by Kristin Parks.

Varsity Coach Sandra Jansma said that although the team had fulfilled its goals of double digit kills and 8-assists per game - except for one - the nine serving errors in the second game hurt them.

"We met our goals for the most part, but the offense wasn't working as well as we wanted it to," Jansma said. "We want no more than three serving errors per game and more communication."

"We have a tight knit group of girls, and we're working as a team," Jansma added. "Things will eventually pan out."

The Junior Varsity Lady Trojans won their heart-stopping match in 5 games: 25-21, 25-14, 10-15, 13-15, and 15-13.

Total aces - 23; Jessica Lyons led with 10 and Rachel Garcia had 8.

Total kills - 7; Brittany Bradbury and Ashley Suber each led with 3.

Alyssa Olds and Rachel Garcia comprised the assists with 2 apiece.

Junior Varsity Coach Launa Baas said the team has a rule that everytime they don't call the ball or "talk" during their games, if they lose, they have to run the length of the volleyball court and back the number of times they forget to talk, called "up and backs."

Baas said they didn't want to run 34 up and backs the next day.

"They just wanted it really bad," she said, adding "we came back with heart at the end and took it."
