Surveying the damage done by chemicals

| October 11, 2007 12:00 AM

To the Editor:

I would like to respond to the concerns about the contamination of all three aquifers beneath the town of Libby because it seems funny to me, that this issue is a concern today when years ago I, no one else, tried to address the issue of our children being exposed by these cancer causing chemicals that exist in the water from Libby Creek all the way to Parmenter Creek and going into the Kootenai River.

My concern at that time and still is, to stop all children from swimming and fishing in Libby Creek from Spencer Road to the river because this entire area is really bad and what did the ignorant Lincoln County do? Put a fence up on one side and that was it.

The children still swim and fish from the bridge on Fifth Street. You also need to know of all the other cancer causing chemicals that exist in the water under your feet. No one knows what all these deadly chemicals do to the human body when they are combined together to create a witches brew. Think about that?

Do a survey, by someone you can trust, on how many people in Libby use that same water to water their gardens.

Anyone on a well in Libby needs to know but then again, who does anything about it? Sure someone needs to pay for poisoning the water beneath our feet and also for allowing the people to be exposed to the chemicals that are known by them to exist in the water. But then again, these are the same responsible ignorant people who did not tell any of us that W.R. Grace was dusting us to death.

The water is unfit, unsafe, and cancer causing for human and animal life. What can be done? What can be done about people breathing Libby's deadly asbestos air?

Move the people out into an environment where their health and safety is not guarenteed to suffer and die other than natual causes. Thank you and find out what water you are using and for what?
