Lewis D. Meyer

Lewis (Louie) D. Meyer, 76, of Troy died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007 at his home up Lake Creek from natural causes.

He was born Oct. 13, 1930 in Spokane, Wash. to Cornelius and Christine LaTurner Meyer. He had lived in Troy since 1943.

He served in the United States Army from 1951-1954 as a staff sergeant. He worked for 33 years at St. Regis in the stud mill and saw mill. He retired in 1991. He loved his job and the people he worked with.

He was a member of the Cabinet Odd fellows 68; Rebecca Medora 53. He was very active in promoting scholarships for students in Libby and Troy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working with his family and doing ceramics. He enjoyed his grandkids and great-grandchildren. His parents, a brother Albert and two sons: Donnie and Dana preceded him in death.

Survivors include: his wife Laura Meyer of Troy; five daughters Debbie Zahner and her husband Marc of Troy; Denise Raan and her husband Randy of Troy, Danette Fisher and her husband Phillip of Troy, Deanne Sloan and her husband Greg of Whitefish, and Dawn Cymbaluk and her husband Rod of Winnemucca, Nev.; three sons Derek Meyer and his wife Linda of Troy, Devin Meyer and his wife Julie of Troy, Dennis Meyer and his fiance Cassie of Troy; 21 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007 at Milnor Lake Cemetery in Troy. Local arrangements are by Nelson & Vial Funeral Home in Libby.
