John L. Foust, Jr.

John "Jack" L. Foust, Jr., 67, passed away at his home in Cashmere, Wash. on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, surrounded by his family.

Jack fought a courageous battle against cancer for five years and is now at peace.

He was born June 17, 1940 to John and Rita Foust Sr. in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Jack attended school in Bonners Ferry, where he excelled in football, and other sports and activities. Jack graduated from high school in 1959.

He received a scholarship to Bozeman College in Montana and played one season of football. From 1959 to 1964, Jack served in the Army National Guard.

In 1964, he met the love of his life, the former Judy Fairchild. They married May 1, 1965, and had four children. In 1974, they moved to Cashmere, where they lived for 33 years.

Jack and Judy owned and operated a logging business for 35 years. For the past six years, Jack worked for a power line construction company in several states.

He and Judy greatly enjoyed seeing new areas and meeting many new friends along the way.

Jack's favorite pastimes were traveling, spending time with family and grandchildren, and playing cards.

Jack is survived by his wife; sons Jason and his wife, Chris, of Lynnwood, Wash., and Jeff and his wife, Lynn, of Cle Elum, Wash.; daughters Janelle Davies of Moses Lake, Wash., and JoLynn Foust of Cashmere; grandchildren Christian, Ryan, Cody, Amanda and Evan; sisters Beverly Shaw and her husband, Don, of Libby, and Dorothy Harrell and her husband, Jeff, of Spokane, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

A celebration of Jack's life was held on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, 145 Wheeler Road in Leavenworth, Wash. A reception will follow.
