Helen L. Prugh
Helen L. Prugh, 87, of Libby died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007 at the Libby Care Center from natural causes. She was born Jan. 9, 1920 in Kansas City, Mo. to Leon and Genevieve West Fontaine.
She grew up and attended school in Kansas City. Helen attended a community college in Columbia. She married Byron E. Prugh on Dec. 25, 1941 in Kansas City. While in Kansas City she was active in the children's theater.
She enjoyed working on political campaigns and had worked on the political campaign of Mayor Bartell of Kansas City and the re-election campaign of Gov. Claude Kirk of Florida. She moved to Libby in 1995.
When she went to the Libby Care Center she was elected President of the Residents Council. She was very good at her new job and was often found telling the staff how the care center should be run. She had a very competitive nature and would often win at bingo or cards at any cost.
She enjoyed reading, sports and fine clothes. At one time she was a champion jitterbugger. Shortly before her death she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her husband Byron, a son Douglas, a sister Jean, and her parents preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children Jana Lewis of Libby, Karla Yungk of Florida, C. Kerry Prugh of Florida, Bill Prugh of Kansas City, Mo.; sister Francis Love of central Florida; and eight grandchildren: Niki, Erin, Jennifer, Ryan, Adam, Angela, Andrea, Alex.
Private family services will be held. Local arrangements are by the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home in Libby.
