Respecting animals and property

| November 13, 2007 11:00 PM

To the Editor:

A response to a call for compassion. I agree that care in dealing with animals who encounter cars is needed. Care in driving and also if an animal is injured that it is not left in the road to suffer or cause another accident.

I, as a hunter, respect the animal I shoot. My initial letter for land posting is not just for the hunters but also for landowners as well as with new building and development, shooting areas can put folks in harms way.

Posting needs to be instituted as increased land sales and development is causing increasing confusion to not only locals but to those not from this area who come to hunt.

I do not condone the actions of a few who rip down posting signs and violate private property bounderies.

I do call for the posting so we do not have to use a map in hand and a lot of guesswork in the hopes that we do not cross over into private property.
