Pearl Downey

Longtime Troy resident Pearl D. Downey, 79, of Vancouver, Wash., died Thursday, March 22, 2007, in Vancouver.

She was born June 5, 1927, in Blanchard, Idaho, to Gladys and David Strange.

Pearl married John P. Downey on Aug. 29, 1945, in Troy. They lived in the Bull Lake area.

She enjoyed picking huckleberries, embroidery, playing cards, cooking and baking.

Pearl was greatly loved and will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1964; her parents; sisters Margaret Gilbride of Newport, Wash., Dorthy Hopfinger of Blanchard and Betty Jones of Spokane; and grandchildren Jacqueline Downey of Troy and Jeremy Sitton of Colville, Wash.

Survivors include a brother, Earl Strange of Blanchard; children Ron Downey of Troy, Garry Downey of Libby, Catherine Bryant and Jodie Litterall, both of Vancouver, and Becky Leighton of Colville; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at the Church of God in Troy. Graveside services will follow at Milnor Lake Cemetery.
