Leslie 'Eugene' Huffman

Leslie "Eugene" Huffman, 90, of Libby died Sunday, March 11, 2007, at St. John's Lutheran Hospital from natural causes.

He was born Dec. 14, 1916, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, to George and Winifred McIlhargey Huffman.

He grew up in the Whitefish area. After school he began working in the logging industry.

He married the former Anna Loris Dawson in 1939.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

After the war Leslie returned to logging. He drove logging trucks in Washington, Montana and Oregon from the 1950s through the 1980s.

He returned to Libby in 1990.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; stepsons Richard and Jack Hart; stepdaughter Norma Jean Walter; and sisters Wynne Stelljes, Bonnie Walker and Joyce Lamb.

Survivors include granddaughters Kenda Householder of Idleyld Park, Ore., and MaryAnn Walter of Portland, Ore.; sister Ardis Moss of Seattle; brother Verl Huffman of Salt Lake City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held. Local arrangements are by Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
