Joyce V. McReynolds

Joyce V. McReynolds, 74, died Wednesday, June 13 at her home in Libby.

She was born to Joy B. Rhodes and Florence (Rentz) Rhodes on Sept. 27, 1932 in Kent, Ohio.

Joyce was raised and educated in Kent and worked at the Redfern Woolen Mill, before moving to southern California with her family.

She married Charles McReynolds in California on Nov. 27, 1953.

They resided in Colorado Springs, Colo. for 10 years and also in Wyoming, Arkansas and Utah for short periods of time where she and her husband served the church pastorate.

They came to Libby in 1973 where they served in the pastorate of Libby Baptist Church until 1980. They then went to Saudi Arabia where her husband Charles worked for the Army Corps of Engineers and served as pastors for the American personnel in that country.

Following Charles' retirement in 1986, they lived in Spokane, Wash. and Kemmerer, Wyo. before returning to Libby. During the ensuing years, they served as interim pastors in churches in Montana, Idaho and British Columbia.

A Godly and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Joyce particularly enjoyed sharing her special gift and calling in Children's Ministries. She enjoyed oil painting as well as all forms of handcrafts, most especially crocheting and cross-stitch.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Charles; her children, Naomi Jeanne and husband Dale Giddis of Two Buttes, Colo.; Charles D. "Charlie" and wife Karen McReynolds, Jr. of Columbia Falls; and Joy Laverne and husband Stuart Maynard of St. Ignatius; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Delores Sczypta of Garretsville, Ohio; Marilyn Johnston of Diamond, Ohio; and Betty Tomlinson of Anza, Calif.; brothers Oliver Rhodes of Anaheim, Calif.; and Joseph Rhodes of Mina, Ark; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services were Monday at the City of Libby Cemetery with Pastor Darrell Newby officiating.
