Barbara Walsh

Barbara Elaine Walsh, 76, of Tacoma, Wash., died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, following complications after surgery.

Barbara was born Nov. 28, 1930, in Kalispell to Fannie and Bliss Drury. The family later moved to Libby.

Barbara graduated from Libby High School.

In 1948, a good looking man in uniform caught her eye, and Barbara and Russell Walsh were married on April 30, 1950, in Libby.

Russell worked for J. Neils Lumber Co. and later St. Regis until 1971, when he was transferred to Tacoma.

Barbara and Russell actively engaged life as a team with service to others, especially after Russell's retirement in 1990. Barbara is remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her husband, son Steven Walsh and his wife Lillian, and daughter Susan Schadel and husband Steve, all of the Tacoma area; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Keven, in 2006.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, Praise Covenant Church in Tacoma. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Teen Challenge - Seattle Metro Men's Center, P.O. Box 18088, Seattle, WA 98118.
