Marvin Norris

Longtime Libby resident Marvin A. Norris, 66, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at his home from natural causes.

He was born July 2, 1940, in Kalispell to William and Irene Fritz Norris.

Marvin spent his early years in Kalispell, and at age 12, moved to Libby.

He graduated from Libby High School in 1958 and entered the U.S. Air Force that September.

Marvin married the former Ruth Sleizer in February 1959.

The couple lived in France when Marvin was stationed there for two years. He was then stationed in Lincoln, Neb., for a year and honorably discharged in June 1963.

They returned to Libby, and Marvin worked for St. Regis Paper Co. until 1969. He then began delivering milk with his father-in-law, retiring from the milk route in 2002.

Marvin was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church and served as chairman of the board for its school and as an elder for the church.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Marvin was preceded in death by a son, Mark D. Norris.

Survivors include his wife; sons Mike Norris of Libby and Mark S. Norris of Spokane, Wash.; daughter Pam Dotson and granddaughter Mary Jo Dotson of Las Vegas, Nev.; mother Irene McClain, brother Harvey Norris and sister Teena Roberts, all of Pinedale, Wyo.; stepmother Ann Norris of Wichita, Kan.; two stepbrothers; and a stepsister.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at St. John Lutheran Church.

Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Hospital Hospice or Wings, 80 Mahoney Road, Libby, MT 59923.
