Tim Brown

Tim Brown, 52, a resident of the Kootenai Valley for the past 37 years, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, as the result of injuries received in a motor vehicle accident near Libby.

Born Nov. 29, 1954, at Portland, Ore., to Dock and Elizabeth (Betty) Brown, he came to Libby with his family in 1970, graduating from Libby High School in 1973.

He began his employment with Rosauers while still in high school and remained there for 12 years, becoming a floor and department manager. He was later employed at ASARCO, Champion International and Noranda, working in numerous, skilled operational and managerial capacities for those companies.

From 1993 until May 2005, Tim served as plant shift production and maintenance supervisor for the Stimson Lumber Co. in Libby. He then worked as a heavy equipment operator for Montana Rock Works Company.

For 16 years, Tim served the community as both an EMT and EMT instructor with Libby Volunteer Ambulance as well as a reserve deputy with the Lincoln County Sherriff's Office.

Tim enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, particularly with his family. He was a loving and doting grandfather to his four grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Penny of Libby; his children, Lisa Byington and husband Steve of Laguna Negal, Calif., Aaron Brown of Libby, and Hannah Brown and special friend Bryce Huck of Ephrata, Wash.; his mother, Betty Brown of East Wenatchee, Wash.; his brothers, Dock Brown Jr. of Kirkland, Wash., David Brown of Helena, and John Brown of Spokane, Wash.; his grandchildren, Chelsea and Whitney Holzer, Kyrston Byington and Tyler Serna; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1999.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at Faith Bible Church. Interment will follow at the City of Libby Cemetery under the direction of Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
