Libby man killed in crash

| February 8, 2007 11:00 PM

A Libby man was killed in a Tuesday morning crash after losing control of his vehicle on the ice and slamming into a delivery truck, according to Montana Highway Patrol.

Tim Brown, 52, of 300 Granite Ave. was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Lincoln County Coroner Steve Schnackenberg said Brown died from internal injuries. Schnackenberg ruled the death accidental.

Brown was eastbound on U.S. Highway 2 near Loon Lake south of Libby at 6:45 a.m. when he lost control of his sport utility vehicle after going around a bend, police said.

The 1996 Chevrolet Blazer spun, slid backwards into the opposite lane and hit the driver's side of a Flathead Beverage truck.

The other driver, Gilbert Leon Ravan, 65, of Kalispell, was not hurt.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
