Don Lewis

Donald F. Lewis, 79, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, in Libby.

He was born Dec. 30, 1927, in Rochester, N.Y., to Donald and Beatrice Rowe Lewis.

Don was raised and educated in Rochester near the Adirondack Mountains.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1945, serving aboard the USS Iowa, St. Paul and Prince Oigen. Following his honorable discharge in 1948, Don returned to Rochester where he remained until moving to Florida in 1957.

Don worked for the Hollywood Police Department in Florida and as a facilities engineer at Florida-Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla., until retiring and coming to Libby in 1994.

Don loved his family very much and was a Christian husband and father.

He was a member of the Assemblies of God.

Don also belonged to the Lincoln County Republican Club and was an outspoken conservative.

Survivors include his wife, Jana, of Libby; his children, Kim Lewis and his wife, Terry, of Bozeman, Erin Lewis of Spokane, Wash., and Ryan Lewis of Seattle, Wash.; his twin brother, Ronald Lewis of LaMont, Calif.; his sister Joan Sandford of Louisville, Ky.; and two grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the City of Libby Cemetery with military honors.

Arrangements were by Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
