Lola J. Freeman

Lola Joyce Freeman, 89, died Nov. 23, 2007 at her home near Troy. She was born to Leon and Della (Metcalf) Bates in Albuquerque, N.M. on Nov. 22, 1918.

She left New Mexico at age 14 and moved to Yuma, Ariz. While residing there she married Pinkney Pool and they had two sons, Johney Pool and William Pool.

The next 45 years she resided in California, completing her education and teaching school for a number of years. She also had been an artist, producing many paintings in oils and watercolors as well as writing poetry.

Lola married Dr. Paul Freeman in 1972. They came to the Northwest in 1997 and settled in the Troy area in 1998. Her husband preceded her in death in 2002 as well as a son, Johney Pool.

Before her death, Lola wished to acknowledge and thank the friends, doctors and nurses of home health and hospice for their loving care during her final illness.

She is survived by her children: William Pool of Irving, Texas; Lily Wilson of Orlando, Fla.; and Christine Smith of Washouga, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Interment was last week at Milnor Lake Cemetery under the direction of Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
