| August 29, 2007 12:00 AM

The Lady Logger Soccer team opened their season with a 3-0 away win against the Stevensville Yellowjackets on Saturday.

Striker Anna Valentine opened the scoring with a goal in the 14th minute before being sidelined with an injury shortly before halftime. The Loggers continued to control the game through the first half, with Lindsey Kehn, Ashley VanHoose, and Larona Luscher making crucial runs up the outside, earning six corner kicks in the first half and five in the second.

Jaime Gilden opened up the second half with a spectacular goal off an assist from Kaila Forster in the 42nd minute. The strong defensive combination of Mechelle Wilson, Rachael Sweedman, Trista Berget and Quinn Wilson blocked the Yellowjacket offense, allowing them only one shot on goal. Nickole Lapka, filling in for the two regular goalkeepers, and in her first appearance as a keeper, had a save and caught several crosses into the box.

Davey Larson completed the scoring with a goal in the 62nd minute, but the Loggers continued their game-long assault on the Yellowjacket goal with shots by Kaila Forster, Jaime Gilden, Lindsey Kehn, Paige Ward and Rachael Sweedman.
