Dennis H. (Dan) Gompf

Memorial and graveside services for Dennis H. (Dan) Gompf will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11 at the City of Libby Cemetery.

Mr. Gompf, 56, died June 20, 2006 in Marlborough, Mass.

Dan was born in Libby on Feb. 8, 1950 to Harold H. "Andy" Gompf and Virginia Wylie Gompf.

He was raised and educated in Seattle, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1968.

He received a degree in marine biology from the University of California-Berkley and later studied material science at Stanford University.

He worked for several years in semiconductors in California before moving east in 1980, settling in Massachusetts.

At the time of his death last year, he had been director of U.S. operations for GIMS, a semiconductor company based in Korea.

A devoted father, husband and community member, Dan coached soccer and had been a volunteer with the Southborough Conservation Commission as well as a volunteer diver for the New England Aquarium.

Dan had also enjoyed skiing, motorcycle racing, horseback riding, wind surfing and had been an avid sailor who competed in off-shore racing.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1956 and mother in 1997 as well as his sister Helen Leckrone.

He is survived by his wife Lori and sons Andy and Kyle, all of Southborough; sisters Diane Keck of Coarsegold, Calif.; and Sandra Connally of Arlington, Wash.; a brother, Harold W. (Hal) Gompf of Shoreline, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.
