Don R. Chambers

Don R. Chambers, 75, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, at home.

Don was born in Ashton, Idaho, Jan. 4, 1932, to George and Louise Perry Chambers. He was raised and educated in Ashton. After graduating, he entered the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.

In 1956 he came to Libby, where he met and married Sandra Frost Aug. 12, 1957. Don was a longtime employee of J. Neils Lumber Co., St. Regis Paper Co. and Champion International, until retiring in 1992.

Don was very active in the Boy Scouts of America program, serving as a scout master for 28 years.

He loved to hike in the surrounding mountains and enjoyed being in the outdoors with the scouts.

Don was a member of the VFW in Libby.

Don was preceded in death by his sister, Arlene Holt; wife, Sandra; daughter, Ruth; and grandson, George.

Survivors include a son, Charles and wife, Lee, of Valparisio, Fla.; daughter, Tiffany Papanikonas and husband, Jason, of Laurel, Md.; brother, Glenn, of Ashton; two sisters, Betty Renstrom of Caldwell, Idaho, and Linda Allred of Yarington, Nev.; grandson, Alexander; granddaughter, Allison; and two great-granddaughters, Laurel and Rebecca.

Military graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the Tobacco Valley Cemetery in Eureka.
