Bill Holder
Walter William "Bill" Holder, 65, died March 21, 2007.
Bill was born on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 1942, in Eureka to Elliott and Mary Holder. He was the oldest of four boys.
His early life taught him skills connected with wood working, from logging and mill work to carpentry and carving, which he enjoyed his entire life.
Bill entered the U.S. Navy as a seaman apprentice without a high school diploma in 1962. He retired as a chief warrant officer 4, Civil Engineer Corps, and a graduate of Brown University. He served five years in Vietnam and earned a Purple Heart.
Bill and his wife, Linda, were married in 1973 and made their home in Fallbrook, Calif. He was a protective, loving and devoted husband and father. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ.
Bill retired Nov. 1, 2004, from Fallbrook Union Elementary School District, where he had been a civil engineer and the director of maintenance and transportation for 19 years.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Holder; his wife, Linda; children Mary Elizabeth Holder, Julie Ann Holder, Melinda Catharine and Benjamin Busch, Amanda Jane and Eric Rocco, and Justyn Paul and Vanessa Holder; grandchildren Ashley Holder, Andre Holder, Morgan Shick, Shira Shick, Mykal Carel, Aydan Whitfield, Jaryn Whitfield, Catharine Busch, Elizabeth Busch, and Reese Holder; great-grandchildren Kenny Meadows, Scott Renvelle and Skylar Renvelle; and brothers and sisters-in-law Jim and Lois Holder, John and Michelle Holder, and Tim and Kathy Holder.
