Ruby Amundson

Ruby Pavola Amundson, 90, of Troy, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at Libby Care Center.

She was born Feb. 25, 1917, at Ada Norman, Minn., to William and Emma Brooks McKinnon.

She was one of 14 children and was the last surviving sibling in the family.

She married Oscar Pavola on July 4, 1933, at Bovey, Minn.

They owned and operated a dairy farm in Minnesota until moving to California and later to Troy in the early 1960s. Ruby and Oscar both worked in the woods in the Troy area until their retirement.

Oscar preceded Ruby in death in 1976. She later married Elmer "Tony" Amundson, and they remained together until his death in 1995.

Ruby was also preceded in death by her daughter Roberta in 1992 and an infant son Allen.

Survivors include daughter Betty Opelt of Libby; son James "Butch" Pavola of Thompson Falls; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 6, at Troy Cemetery. Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. to noon Friday at Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
