Harley Youmans

Harley A. Youmans, 85, an area resident for the past 38 years, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at the Libby Care Center.

He was born at Glenville, Minn., on Aug. 9, 1921, to Edward and Minnie Youmans. The family later moved to Iowa where he was raised and educated. He had farmed in Iowa and moved to northern Minnesota in 1950 where he farmed.

He worked in the lumber industry on the West Coast before working in construction, coming to Libby in 1968, working for MK Construction on the Libby Dam Project. He retired upon completion of the dam.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rose in 1994 and by a brother and an infant sister.

Survivors include his sons, Larry Youmans of Columbia Falls and Lynn Youmans of McKinney, Texas; a sister, Mayme Furnish of Mason City, Iowa; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1, at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home Chapel in Libby. Interment will be at a later date in Northwood, Iowa.
