Carlyn McElroy

Carlyn Russell McElroy, 70, died Aug. 23, 2006, at the family home in Libby.

Carlyn was born Oct. 26, 1935, in Butte to Raymond and Ora McElroy.

He attended school in Butte, Alaska and California.

Carlyn served in the Army, beginning in 1952.

He married the former Jeanette Petrusha in 1972. They lived on a sailboat in Mexico, Hawaii, Washington and California.

Carlyn worked as a carpenter and boat builder in Montana, Hawaii, California and Washington. He was a sailor and an explorer.

Survivors include his wife; sisters, Ora Wells of Hawaii and Vicki Williams of Phoenix; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Sept. 3 at Bootjack Lake.
