Hernandez should temper passion, recognize a good deal

To the Editor:

I would concur with the statement from Cesar Hernandez that it is "illogical thinking" that the Rock Creek mine is needed to help recover grizzly bear populations.

But then again, I've not heard that assertion.

What I have heard is that Revett Minerals Inc. (whether by altruistic ideals or judicial mandate) is putting forth sufficient funding which, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, will provide additional resources for grizzly bear populations. In their studied opinion, these resources will yield a net gain for the bears even when weighed against the impact of the mine.

I would urge Mr. Hernandez to temper his admirable passion for the environment with the practicality to recognize a good deal.
