Charlotte Orr

Charlotte E. Orr, 87, a resident of the Kootenai Valley for the past 64 years, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, in Libby.

Charlotte was born in Kalispell on Sept. 10, 1919, to Robert R. and Marie Engler Brown. The family later moved to Portland, Ore., where she attended school.

Charlotte married Edward C. Orr on Dec. 29, 1940, in Libby. They lived at the Lang Ranch in the Thompson River Valley and then came to Libby. In 1943, they moved to the McGinnis Meadows area to run the Orr family ranch until moving back into Libby in 1944.

Charlotte was a clerk at the Tog Shop, Gambles and later at J.C. Penneys for many years.

She was a person of many talents. An excellent seamstress, she sewed for many people and also was an excellent gardener.

Charlotte was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Veteran of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998; a daughter, Susan Orr Mavity; and a son, Howard Orr.

She is survived by sons Herb, Rob and David Orr, all of Libby; daughters Nancy Adams of Moyie Springs, Idaho, and Marie Parker, and Janie and Maggie Orr, all of Libby; 26 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at Christ Lutheran Church. Interment services will follow in the City of Libby Cemetery.

Friends may call at Nelson & Vial Funeral Home from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and until noon Thursday.
