Richard Slauson

Richard Hugh Slauson, 79, of Libby died Thursday, March 23, 2006.

He was born June 29, 1926 in Lewistown, to Hugh and Nell Shawl Slauson. He was a veteran of World War II and had served from 1944-1946 with a tour of duty in the Philippines.

He married Betty Lou Newsome on June 25, 1950. He owned and operated Slausons Disposal Service for many years. He worked for W.R. Grace for 10 years after selling his business. He and his wife also owned and operated the Libby Cab Service for a time while still operating the disposal service.

He was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed listening to music, spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them his appreciation of watching trains roll by.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, parents Hugh and Nell Slauson, brother Milton and sister Jeanice.

Survivors include his four daughters LaRelle Alcock and husband Alan of Bonney Lake, Wash.; Patti Kelly and husband Bob of Sammamish, Wash.; Collette Weston and husband Eugene of Buckley, Wash.; Kim Olsen and husband David of Libby; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Libby Baptist Church in Libby. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. on Wednesday. Local arrangements are by Nelson and Vial Funeral Home in Libby.
