Sarah Underwood

Sarah E. Underwood, 95, of Libby, died Monday, March 13, 2006, at the Libby Care Center from natural causes.

She was born Jan. 19, 1911, in Buford, N. D., the daughter of Henry and Mary Anne McDonald Hammer. She was raised in the Buford and Trenton area, where she attended school.

Sarah married Charlie Underwood on Oct. 26, 1931. They farmed in the Buford, Trenton and Fairview areas of North Dakota for many years. They moved to Libby in 1951.

Survivors include children Lois Theonnes of Libby, Vern Underwood of Missoula, Lloyd Underwood of West Richland, Wash., and James Underwood of Troy; brother Gerald Hammer of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; sister Mildred Feeney of Plentywood; 23 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held Friday, March 17, at the Assembly of God in Libby. Local arrangements are by the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
