Lorelei R. Barnett, 74, of California, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2006, at her daughter's home in Libby from complications of COPD.

She was born March 14, 1931, in Oakland, Calif., to Robert and Dorothy Deidrick. She grew up in the Bay Area of California. After graduating high school she began a nursing program.

She met and later married Charles E. Barnett, with whom she had five daughters. After her divorce she returned to college and became a registered nurse. She loved being a nurse but retired in 1989 to spend more time with her beloved family and especially her grandchildren.

She enjoyed traveling and reading. She was a talented seamstress and could crochet anything. She spent a lot of time in her yard with her flowers and plants. She often visited Libby and was enamored by its citizens, its beauty and its Nordicfest.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her first-born daughter, Sheridan Louise Barnett.

She is survived by brother Robert Borges of Tacoma, Wash.; sister Diane Meier of Brentwood, Calif.; her four daughters and their families, Jack and Jeanne, Amy, Jason, Trevor, Lindsay, and Robert of Warrensburg, Mo., Nobuo and Elizabeth, Shelley, Brad and Cindy of Oregon and California, Terry and Carolyn, Byron, Tomi, Nicholas and Kori of Libby, Freddie and Allison, Sarah, Alan and Nando of Spokane, Wash.; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
