Darrell Lind

Darrell J. Lind, 69, of Libby, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at St. John's Lutheran Hospital from natural causes.

He was born Aug. 31, 1936, in Boston, Mass., to John and Katherine Roth Lind. He grew up and attended school in Boston.

After graduating from high school he moved to New Hampshire, where he attended college for two years. After college he entered the U.S. Army and was sent to Fort Bragg, N.C., where he served in the Special Forces. He did three tours of duty in Vietnam

He was then stationed in Germany for 12 years where he met Karin Boehme. They were married on July 8, 1964, in Bad Toelz, Germany.

He retired from the Army in 1978. He then went to work for the Department of Defense and retired in 1998. At that time they moved to Libby.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, and mountain climbing.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Karin Lind of Libby; a son, Siegfried J. Lind of Libby; a daughter, Kirsten Lehnert and husband Stacy of Libby; sister Maxine Thompson of Marshfield, Mass.; and five grandchildren.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. Interment will be at the Montana Veterans Cemetery in Helena.
