We don't live in a representative democracy, it's total hypocrisy

| February 2, 2006 11:00 PM

To the Editor:

Say folks, don't ask for your senior transportation by phoning the Libby Senior Center, 293-7222, if you live out in Lincoln County.

If you need to get to Libby, the county seat for your human right to food, potable drinking water, medicine and medical appointments, hitchhike. Because if you are not privately privileged to own a vehicle, elderly and disabled, you will be charged with harassment, arrested and sent to prison.

Even though you have been taxed for 20 years for senior transportation on your property taxes you have no right to senior transportation.

And don't phone your state senator, Aubyn Curtiss, for your senior transportation because all you will get is silence and accused of harassment. And don't phone Senator Jim Elliot, he won't answer the phone although he writes good editorials. And don't phone Rep. Ralph Heinert because he won't answer the phone either. And don't phone your county commissioners, John Konzen, who we voted for for years because he could care less. And don't phone the other county commissioners because they could care less even more.

And forget calling Rick Maedje, your so-called state representative. Because he will tell you - you have no human rights, social rights, civil rights, or economical rights and it's just survival of the fittest. And don't phone Governor Brian Schweitzer who we voted for because he will tell you no matter how many times you phone asking for your senior transportation he could care less and won't do nothing about it. And don't call Senator Max Baucus because he will pretend to help you for months and then say he can't do nothing about your senior transportation. And don't phone Conrad Burns because he will say he doesn't have jurisdiction over Montana's senior transportation and don't get hit by a car while hitch hiking.

And especially don't phone Rep. Denny Rehberg because he will say - you should be arrested and sent to prison for hitchhiking, let alone your senior transportation.

Yvonne and I also distribute the People's Weekly World in Libby, Montana. 200 papers; so the Libby people can have some free press, speech, politics and democracy. So don't phone the Human Rights Bureau in Helena, because they will spend all the time telling you that it is up to you to prove you have suffered political persecution and discrimination. This bureau will also say, isn't it nice the people have a toll-free phone number to call them and they will send you a nice letter about how you have no case at all.

So folks we really don't live in a representative democracy, we live in a total hypocrisy. By the way the county police and state police drive right by us standing at the Yaak River Road and U.S. 2, hitchhiking with our Libby sign like we don't exist.

Mass Public Transit everywhere for all.
