Iris Laffoon

Iris M. Laffoon, 93, of Troy, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, at a Spokane, Wash., nursing care facility.

She was born Sept. 21, 1913, at the family home in the Deep Creek area near Livingston to George and Minnie Case.

Iris came to the Troy area in 1932 with her sister Hazel Laffoon and her husband Carl. Iris met Carl's brother Clare Laffoon, and she and Clare were married on Aug. 15, 1933. In 1951, Iris and Clare moved to Spokane, where they lived for 27 years until retiring and returning to Troy in July 1978.

Iris was a longtime member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Clare preceded Iris in death in 1980. She was also preceded in death by grandchildren Jeffrey Laffoon and Terrence Garrison.

She is survived by her children, Charline Garrison of Troy, Larry G. Laffoon of Hayden, Idaho, Joel F. Laffoon of Spokane, and Gail Jefferson of Ephrata, Wash.; a sister, Betty Schnell of Grand Junction, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the Troy Church of God with Pastor Dennis Crystal of the Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating. Interment services will follow at Milnor Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
