EPA spokesman's comments don't inspire confidence
To the Editor:
In response to the recent criticism of the EPA, an illustrious spokesman for the EPA made a comment that I just had to see again in print in case any of my fellow taxpayers had not seen it.
Spokesman Cirian said, "We can't say it's clean, but we can't say it isn't either. In my opinion, Libby is cleaner than it was seven years ago."
Wasn't that a brilliant statement? It makes you wonder if the many, many millions of taxpayers' dollars wasted by this government bureaucracy have done any good at all. He sure doesn't give me any confidence in what they are doing here in Libby.
They also said the cleanup was expected to take another three to five years. We all know that's not true. They will be here many years from now wasting our grandkids' tax money. It's called job security.
