Rita Raan

Rita Raan, 81, of Troy, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at St. John's Lutheran Hospital.

She was born July 1, 1925, at home in Mountrail County, N.D., to Herbert Ortloff and Mary Susan Zurbes Ortloff.

Rita attended a country school through the eighth grade near the family home.

She married Martin Raan on Oct. 5, 1946, and in 1956 they moved to Troy.

Rita enjoyed raising her children, gardening, flowers, cooking and playing the guitar.

Survivors include sons Randy Raan and his wife, Denise, and Larry Raan, all of Troy, James Raan of Kalispell, Dean Raan and his wife, Kathleen, of Mesa, Ariz., and Don Raan and his wife, Johanna, of Petaluma, Calif.; daughters Barbara McMillan and her husband, Roy, and Rose Lockman and her husband, Jamie, all of Troy, and Mary Shockley of Sagle, Idaho; brothers Bill Ortloff of Williston N.D., Bernard Ortloff of Lambert and Don Ortloff and his wife, Sharon, of Pittsburg, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at Rita's home, eight miles up Lake Creek Road outside Troy. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday at Nelson & Vial Funeral Home in Libby.
