Charleen Boren

Charleen Rae Kester Boren, 49, of Troy, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, in a traffic accident on Highway 200 west of Trout Creek.

She was born May 24, 1957, in Wolf Point to Charles W. and Arleen J. Kester.

Charleen spent her childhood in Montana and North Dakota, moving to Paradise in 1967. After graduating in 1976 from Plains High School, she spent a year in the Philippines working with a Christian missionary organization.

On Aug. 8, 1981, Charleen married Robert M. Boren in Paradise.

In 1996 the family moved to Troy, where she became known as "Mooky" by countless neighborhood children as well as her own.

Charleen gave from her heart as well as her kitchen. Besides the countless muffins she baked for friends and neighbors, Charleen also enjoyed her quilting group, lighthouses and carousels.

A dedicated mother and caregiver, she committed her time, energy and love helping those in need and spent recent years providing home health care to elderly people in the Troy area.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Larry.

Charleen is survived by her husband; sons Robert Jr., serving with the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army, and David, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps; a daughter, Katie Mae; and sisters Kasey Kester of Minneapolis, Minn., Betty Joy Kester of Lincoln, Maine, and Carrie Kester of Plains.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Circle of Women Quilting Group, c/o Beverly Hoyer, 620 Waterfront, Troy, MT, 59935.

Services were held Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Paradise School gym. A private family burial was held at Plains Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Bunch-Toews Funeral Chapels.
