Ellen Dryden
Ellen Elizabeth Orr Resch Dryden, 82, formerly of Libby, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006, at her home in Albany, Ore.
She was born Jan. 14, 1924, in the Manicke area south of Libby to James and Anna Orr.
Ellen was raised in McGinnis Meadows and attended school in Libby.
She married Steve Resch July 3, 1941. He died May 5, 1971. She married Glenn Dryden on Aug. 5, 1973; they moved to Scio, Ore., and then to Albany for what became the family home.
Ellen loved to entertain her 10 children, 28 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and anyone who showed at her door. Her homemade bread, biscuits and cinnamon rolls were a requirement at every gathering, and she willingly supplied a lot of these.
Many happy memories remain of the great times had in this home. Ellen was happiest when the house was full of her "little people."
Also preceding her in death were a sister Helen Miller and brothers Edward, Bill, Carl and Ray Orr.
Survivors include her husband, Glenn, of Albany; children, Ruth Ann Hellen and husband James of Somers, Charles Resch and wife Sue and John Resch and wife Yvonne, all of Libby, Stanley Resch and wife Glenda of Drain, Ore., Diane Mellem of Havre, Roxanne Griner of Lebanon, Ore., Randy Resch and wife Judy of Scio, Gregory Resch and wife Barb and Joseph Resch and wife Kim, all of Salem, Ore., and Steve Resch and wife Coleen of Sherwood, Ore.; two step-daughters, Kaylene Larado of Lebanon, Ore., and Debra Wright of Nevada; two brothers, Paul Orr of Columbia Falls, and Marion Orr of Libby; grandchildren, Jim, Mike, Jackie, John, Paul, Scott, Darren, Mary, Justin, Chantelle, Michelle, Shane, Kayleen, Jerry, Ryan, Kimber, Tina, Jennifer, Kellie, Joe, Greg, Destiny, Krystan, Lyle, Tony, Fred, Kathleen and Philip; great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Jozef Perhubka as celebrant. Interment will follow at the City of Libby Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home followed by a rosary and parish vigil at 7 p.m.
