Scott Gilden
Scott Andrew Gilden, 43, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006, in Helena after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Scott was born May 8, 1963, in Libby, to Harold W. Gilden Jr. and Joretta Bandy Gilden. He graduated from Libby High School in 1981 and went on to work for Gilden Excavating and Remp Sand and Gravel.
In 1987, Scott suffered kidney failure, and in 1989 he received a transplant from his brother Gregg.
In 1991 Scott attended Northern Montana College in Havre, where he met and fell madly in love with his future wife, Kathy Moore of Havre.
In 1994 he moved to Helena and worked for Big Sky Ready Mix, Lowry Excavating. His latest employment was with the city of Helena as a water treatment plant operator.
Scott loved to snowmobile and golf with his father-in-law Tom Murphy and nephew Nathan Gilden, work in his yard, cook large dinners for his friends and family, and camp whenever the opportunity arose.
Once a year he looked forward to Montana Dog Days, a generational male bonding event involving camping, target shooting and tall tales.
Scott loved his family dearly and put them first in all he did. He will be greatly missed.
Scott is preceded in death by his grandparents, Helen and Harold Gilden Sr. and Cleta and Monroe Bandy.
Survivors include his parents; his wife; sons, Cory and Dale Moore; brothers Jim Gilden and wife Amy Wilson of Libby and Gregg Gilden of St. Regis; sister Leslie Gilden and husband Mark Osteen of Baltimore; seven nephews and nieces; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
A memorial service in celebration of Scott's life was held Monday, July 31, at the East Helena United Methodist Church.
