Hans Helvik

Hans Helvik, 79, of Libby died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at St. John's Lutheran Hospital from natural causes.

He was born Oct. 10, 1926, at Big Timber to Julian and Sophia Hansen Helvik. He grew up in Sweet Grass County and attended school in Big Timber. He entered the U.S. Army on May 24, 1951, and was honorably discharged on April 27, 1953. He returned to Big Timber where he met and married Linda Miller on Sept. 1, 1954, in Butte.

He moved to Libby in 1965 and went to work for the J. Neils Lumber Company. He retired under Champion International.

His wife Linda preceded him in death.

Survivors include two daughters Coral Johnsen of Libby and Debbie Miner of Great Falls; three brothers, Julian and Sidney Helvik, both of Big Timber, and Carl Helvik of Helena, and three grandchildren.

Services were held on Thursday, April 6, at 2 p.m. at the Libby Baptist Church. Local arrangements are by the Nelson and Vial Funeral Home in Libby.
