Ruby Marcott

Former Troy resident Ruby Marcott, 72, of Hibbing, Minn., died on Sept. 23, 2005, at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer

She was born on Dec. 1, 1932 at Whitewood, Va., to Steward and Myrtle Horn Gibson.

She married Lawrence Marcott on July 19, 1986, at Pengilly, Minn.

Ruby was a homemaker and a certified nurse's aide, doing in-home care.

She attended the First Assembly of God Church at Hibbing and enjoyed playing bingo. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting and growing flowers.

Survivors include her husband Larry, Hibbing; her mother Myrtle Hyvre; daughters Debra Powers in Montana, Judy Lyle of Idaho; sons Danny and his wife Chris Powers in Oregon, Randy Powers in Montana and Larry Powers in Washington; sister Marie and her husband Dan Bills in Minnesota; brothers Gerald and his wife Faye Gibson in Minnesota, Virgil and his wife Marty Gibson in Kentucky, Russel and his wife JoAnn Gibson in Tennessee, and Jerry and his wife Geneva Gibson in Virginia, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, her daughter Sharon Hock and two brothers, James and George Gibson.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Monday and continued on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service at the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home, with Pastor Randy Williamson officiating.

Interment was to be in the Maple Hill Cemetery.

Family services were provided by Anderson-Daniels, a Bauman Family Funeral Home at Hibbing.
