Laurie E. McCann, formerly of Libby, died on Sept. 20, 2005, at her home at Lebanon, Ore.

She was born in Libby and moved to Oregon in 1964.

She had retired from Smoke Craft, after 23 years of service, to provide day care for granddaughter Kelsey.

She loved all animals and was always taking in strays or finding homes for them.

Laurie had a "green thumb" and enjoyed caring for her beautiful flowers.

Most of all she was a story teller and she and her stories will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Bob McCann, Lebanon,; daughter Kathy Horsager, Richland, Wash.; son Bob McCann Jr., and his wife Jet, Albany, and foster son William Vaughn and his wife Betty and their children; brother Ben Vaughn and his wife Marliese, Libby; grandsons Mark, Jeff and Alan Horsager, Richland, granddaughter Kelsey McCann, and great-grandson Anthony.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Katie Vaughn, and her brother Bill Vaughn.

At her request, no service will be conducted.

Contributions can be made in her memory to Safe Haven Humane Society, 33071 Highway 34, Albany, OR 97322 or to Evergreen Hospice, 1046 SW 6th, Albany, OR 97321.
