Crisis Solutions seeking board members for new organization
To the Editor:
We are seeking applications for the board of directors for the new Lincoln County domestic violence/sexual assault program, Lincoln County Crisis Solutions (LCCS).
Briefly, the mission of this new organization is: to provide emergency shelter and supportive services to victims (including their children) of domestic violence, rape and sexual assault. We seek to break the cycle of abuse through community awareness, education, training, collaboration and research. Being a board member is a voluntary position, without monetary compensation.
We hope to create a governing board that reflects the Libby, Troy, Eureka and out-lying communities, and includes people from a variety of backgrounds, work, and life experiences. Board members duties are to establish the new agency, develop programs, policies and activities necessary to carry out the domestic violence/sexual assault program and solicit and manage the personnel, resources and finances for the program.
Qualifications, characteristics and criteria needed for board membership include: willingness and ability to contribute time and talents; understand and be in agreement with the mission of LCCS; be a questioner, a learner and a person of vision. Board openings to be filled are for two- and three-year terms.
Please consider being a part of the solution by contacting Barb Guthneck with questions at 293-3951. Submit a brief resume including your motivation for becoming a member of the Board to LCI, Inc, PO Box 390, Libby, MT 59923 by Oct. 1.
Applicants will be considered by the steering committee early in October. The first meeting of the board of directors will be held in October.
