Revitalization of Libby starts with old historic high school

| October 21, 2005 12:00 AM

EDITOR'S NOTE: The following letter was sent to the Libby School Board.

To the Editor:

Since I am not a very good letter writer, it has taken me a little time to decide that I have to write this one. I, and many people who have talked to me and written to you believe it is an outrage that you, as an elected board, have decided to completely disregard the will of the voters.

The Montana Preservation Alliance and the Mountains/Plains Office of the National Trust for Historic Preservation think the old high school is worth saving. Why not give them, the Libby community and Friends of the Historic Libby High School a chance to work with the developer who is already interested in the project.

Many people and/or their children who were the "vitalizers" of Libby a few years ago got their education at the old Libby High School. Now that it is time to "revitalize" Libby, let's start with the most historic building in our town. It can become a very beautiful and important part of the revitalization.
