Asbestos victim looks forward to Grace response to letter fiasco

| October 5, 2005 12:00 AM

EDITOR'S NOTE: The following letter is a response by an asbestos victim to a letter from Health Network of America.

Dear Sir,

I received your diagnostic evaluation. There seems to be a direct contradiction in that it states that I have plural plaque caused by asbestos, but I do not have asbestosis.

I do not believe that you can have one without the other. Please explain.

If you are correct, can you explain over 200 deaths related to asbestos here in Libby, MT. Also, over 1,500 other victims have been identified, many are carrying oxygen bottles. A coherent definition of the above conditions here in Libby, MT, would substantiate your diagnostic evaluation in composing your responses. You should remember that Grace & Co. operated the largest asbestos mine in the United States and are now under indictment for handling this toxic product.

It is currently understood that there is a growing number of medical professionals, because of their degrees, who sell their witness ability to company interests so they can avoid product liability, should any MD have any motive other than the care of the patient, that would be a violation of his oath. (To do no harm.) This might subject you to civil liability.

Your list of expertise is impeccable, however the confusing letter sent to this member does not reflect much intellect. You offered in your letter the option of other opinions. I will stay with Drs. Black and Whitehouse, as they have between them both, over 25 years of clinical experience of asbestosis here in Montana and seem to be concerned and caring of their victims. This would seem to outweigh any expertise that you might refer me to.

In closing, I know that it is politically incorrect, but because of your letter many people here in Libby refer to you as a Grace Co. prostitute. I felt that you should know of the animosity that you have generated here.

We all look forward to your responses, should you not respond you will confirm all stated in this letter.
