Miriam 'Mia' Snyder

Miriam (Mia) Snyder, 82, died Thursday, November 3, 2005, at St. John's Lutheran Hospital in Libby.

She was born at Squaw Lake, Minn., on April 28, 1923, to Walter and Sally Sunell, where she spent most of her time until she married Bud Snyder in 1940.

After she married Bud they moved around from town to town because of his job as a building contractor. Then they settled in Libby around 1960.

In the early 1970s they built the Pine Ridge Tavern, which they operated together for many years. Mia continued to operate the tavern for several years alone after the death of Bud in 1989. After her retirement, she moved in Green Meadow Manor in Libby where she lived until her death.

She really enjoyed being around people and loved to spend time reading. She was preceded in death by her husband Bud, a son Clyde, daughter Gloria Jean and a grandson Dean.

Survivors include her children JoAnne Nelson and husband Dick, Marge Snyder, Larry Snyder, Rick Snyder and wife Jeannine, Ron Snyder and wife Cory, all of Libby; Steve Snyder and wife Sue, Lawton, Okla.; Jerry Snyder and wife Linda, Council Bluff, Iowa; two sisters, Syliva Wilson, Grand Rapids, Minn., and Yvonne Schmanski and Bud, Squaw Lake, Minn.; three brothers, Floyd Sunell and wife Rhea, Libby; Elmer Sunell and wife Mae, Squaw Lake, Minn.; Ray Sunell and wife Donna, Pine City, Minn.; 29 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.

Services were held Monday, Nov. 7, at the City of Libby Cemetery. Local arrangements were by Nelson & Vial Funeral Home in Libby.
