Charlie Hayes

Former Libby resident Charles E. (Charlie) Hayes, died on April 10, 2005, at Everett, Wash.

He was born at DuBois, Pa., on March 1, 1953, to Jake and Agnes Hayes.

The family moved to Libby, where Charlie attended school, graduating for Libby High School with the Class of 1969.

He served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam, receiving the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

Charlie had lived in the Pacific Northwest since 1974, employed by the U.S. Postal Service.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Elizabeth, Johnny, Loretta and Willard.

Survivors include sisters Lucille Alden, Bothell, Wash., Diana Haviland, Seattle, and Flo Lee, Vaughn; brothers Trevor Hayes, Springfield, Pa., Jim Hayes, Libby, Bob Hayes, Missoula, and Fred Hayes, Florence, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the City of Libby Cemetery.
